These students were nominated by their teachers for showing the Positivity Project traits- traits focused on students of strong character, integrity, and caring for each other. We will recognize a group of students each week for P2 Traits and all students are eligible. Display those character traits and the next winner might be you!


Spring Picture Day is coming to CMS on Wednesday, March 20th.
All students will have an individual picture taken. No money is due on picture day.
Students will receive a picture package to preview a few weeks after picture day.


Hat Day!!! Students can all wear hats tomorrow! Free Hat Day on Thursday, March 14th, to celebrate the short week and this warm weather!

We will have a meeting tomorrow morning at 8 am for any girls interested in trying out for the HS Competition Cheerleading squad. Girls will meet with Coach Edwards in the cafeteria.

March 25-29 is Music Theme Week!


Norfolk Southern Rail notified the City of Commerce that the railroad crossing (highlighted in yellow) at N Elm and Homer/Jefferson Rd will be closed for repair /repaving from Friday morning at 7am until Saturday morning at 8am. Broad Street and Elm Street will be open (just the crossing will be closed) Please plan for delays with traffic. Thank you for your patience.


CMS soccer: West Jackson just called at 3:10 and cancelled the games for today. Parents: please pick students up at CMS

The Golf and Tennis matches for today have been cancelled and there will be no practice. The Track Meet for today has been cancelled and will resume practice on Thursday, weather permitting.

5th Grade visited the Learning Commons for a Standards Based Lesson on creating Multimedia Presentations! I'd say they were engaged!

CMS Spelling Bee Fun!!!




Students created their own abstract designs that came together as a beautiful and unique paper quilt! They also began work on their own fabric collages inspired by the Gee's Bend Quiltmakers of Alabama.





Attention Commerce Community! CMS Adaptive Curriculum will be hosting their First Annual Pancake Breakfast, April 13th 2024.

Mrs. Carreno's class introduced sphero robots and how to code them to Mrs. Cruz and Mr. Cotrell's class. Learning is so fun at Commerce Middle School!

✨CTAE Month Teacher Spotlight - Business Education at CMS is taught by Coach Kris Patel. This is his 6th year teaching Business Education, and 1st year at Commerce Middle School. Coach Patel also helps coach Baseball and Softball at CHS. We are grateful for the positive influence you have on our students!✨


✨CTAE Month Teacher Spotlight - Agriculture at CMS is taught by Mrs. April Davis. This is Mrs. Davis's 18th year teaching and 6th year at Commerce Middle School. She is also the FFA Advisor. Thank you Mrs Davis for all you do for the students at CMS!✨

ELA: Mercedes is hardworking and kind. We are lucky to have her at CMS.
Math: John works very hard in math and participates frequently during lessons. He is happy to explain how he solves math problems in order to help other students understand.
SS: Ladd is enthusiastic every day and always has a terrific attitude. He is a great student and leader at CMS.
SC: Jenifer is always polite, on task, and respectful. She works hard every day and shows great character.
ELA Applications: Aubrey is a pleasure to have in class. I enjoy having conversations with her about all sorts of topics. She works hard, and sets a great example for her peers.
